Description

The aim of the project is to (1) improve the consequences of water-borne diseases for the population of the program cities, especially children, by providing a safe and reliable water supply to public facilities and to implement gender-sensitive hygiene and sanitation behavior; and 2) reduce the risks of gender-based violence by providing safe and gender-specific water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools, health centers and public facilities. In addition, preventive measures and aftercare for gender-based violence will be embedded in the project. In total, up to 30,000 people will benefit from the planned measures. Key measures / outputs / results - Improvement of long-term and gender-sensitive access to water and sanitation in schools, health centers and public facilities; - Improved knowledge of and application of gender-sensitive hygiene behavior, including menstrual hygiene, cholera prevention and control in schools, health centers and communities; - Provision of access to cross-sectoral services to reduce and follow up on gender-based violence. The financing contribution amounts to EUR 6,000,000.00 with an implementation period of 24 months.
