Accessible Tourism on European Greenways: Greenways For All

Greenways articulate territories boosting endogenous development as a traveller can experience all the tourism Value Chain: eating in restaurants, sleeping in hotels, buying craft, visiting museums, etc… However, only as exception, travellers can book an Accessible Tourism Greenway Itinerary. The problem is the lack of a structured Accessible Tourism Value Chain in these Greenways that make very difficult to assemble a full and innovative Accessible Tourism Product. GW4ALL sets as its Goal the conversion of existing Greenways Itineraries into Accessible Tourism Greenways Itineraries. During the 18 months ‘implementation period, GW4ALL is going to develop 2 full Accessible Tourism Greenways Itineraries through the application on the field of a solid methodology: • Stage 1 –ASSESSMENT on Accessibility: the Accessible resources in the territory are going to be audited and • Stage 2 – DEVELOPMENT of Innovative Accessible Tourism Greenway Itineraries in the Greenway sierra and in the Ecopista Da Lafoes. • Stage 3 – TESTING the resulting itineracy with groups of testers from the target group person with special access needs and from the audience. These stages are going to be implemented through extensive presence in the territory, delivering of training and advice to local companies and the creation of a solid Local Accessible Tourism Pact. GW4ALL brings together to success on this partners from 4 EU Members States, the support of National and Regional Public Tourism bodies and more than 250 Affiliated entities.
