Description

Description

The project involves the acquisition of a maximum of 30 new 12-metre electric buses that will be rechargeable at the garage, which will contribute to the Société de transport de Trois-Rivières’ (STTR) greenhouse gas reduction objective. These buses will allow the STTR to gradually electrify its bus fleet by replacing diesel buses at the end of their useful life with electric buses. The buses will be air-conditioned and accessible to clients with reduced mobility and the disabled. The buses will be equipment with low-floors and access for wheelchair users and a layout for people with disabilities. This project will be carried out through a public call for tenders involving 10 public transit organizations for a group purchase of a maximum of 1,229 electric buses. The Société de transport de Montréal is acting as agent for the follow-up of the call for tenders and the upcoming contract. Of the 1,229 buses, 30 are destined for the STTR and funding for these buses is requested in this project. The project will improve the capacity, quality and safety of the public transit infrastructure by adding 30 new electric buses.
