Description
Description | The Indian Navy is considering the purchase of 31 additional Rafale M fighter jets from France to supplement the 26 aircraft already ordered in April 2025. This acquisition aims to bridge the gap in carrier-based fighter capabilities caused by delays in the indigenous Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF) development. The Navy currently relies on aging MiG-29K fighters expected to retire around 2035, creating a potential capability gap. The expanded Rafale fleet will maintain maritime strike strength until TEDBF production begins, projected around 2038 or later. |
