Description
Description | This document describes a two-tranche Development Policy Loan (DPL), in the amount of USD 250 million to the Brazilian State of Acre. The purpose of this operation is to enhance the efficiency of public sector administration, particularly in the areas of education and gender equality. This goal will be pursued by: (i) improving planning, monitoring and evaluation of development programs to increase their results-orientation and introducing transparent procurement and asset management practices; and (ii) improving monitoring of learning performance of students in the states public schools and aligning the states gender policy and institutional framework with gender policy reforms at the national level. The objectives of this operation are fully aligned with the World Bank Groups goals of eradicating extreme poverty and promoting shared prosperity. The Government of Acre further expands on the Federal Governments efforts to eradicate extreme poverty through its own Plan to Eradicate Extreme Poverty (Plano Acre sem Miseria). This policy seeks to improve the social mobility of families living in poverty by helping them to engage in income generating activities and access public services. This operation supports these goals by promoting improved service delivery and social and productive inclusion. |
