ACS Marcona Wind Farm

Parque Eolica Marcona S.A. was created to build, own and operate a 32 MW wind farm in Nazca province, Peru. In 2011, the project company was a subsidiary of Consorcio Cobra, a Peruvian subsidiary of the Spanish Company ACS. The Marcona wind project was scheduled to have 16 2-MW turbines. The project would sell power to the SEIN grid system and had obtained through tender a 20 year PPA to sell power from the Peruvian Ministry of Mines and Energy. Scheduled investment for the project was USD 61.1 million; the project's EIA had been approved in June, 2011, with commissioning scheduled for late 2012. In August 2013, the project was granted a US$ 55 million loan from CAF. Construction works were concluded in January 2014, and commercial operations commenced in April 2014.
