Description
Description | The project “Action dad” builds on the identification and proper response to the key needs of working parents in regard to work–life balance, especially in the scope of more gender balanced use-up of parental leave. In Slovenia it is still women who do most of the care and unpaid work and are, as a result, faced with more obstacles in their career progression. Due to the rooted traditional notions about gender roles in society employers do not consider men as fathers but only as workers without care responsibilities. As successfulness of work-life balance depends on intersection of three levels: societal (national legislation, institutional framework, cultural and social framework), organisational (practices and policies of employers) and individual (strategies of individual men and women) project addresses all three levels by capacity building, implementation of pilot experiment for employers and awareness-raising activities and includes cooperation of key actors: stakeholders from the ministry (including directorate for family affairs and gender unit), research institute, employers from public and private sector, family support services (centres for social work, local health centres, etc.), employed (future) parents and ge Objectives: - To ensure successful implementation of the Directive Work – Life balance, especially in terms of providing appropriate legal and policy measures for more balanced uptake of family-related leave between men and women. - To simplify the exercises of parental rights and take positive measures that enable and assist future fathers to enjoy their share of parental leave - To encourage employers to adopt internal policies and practises for gender neutral approach to work-life balance and to recognize positive effects of active fatherhood from birth of the child on for their employed fathers. - To address and to reduce gender stereotypes in the area of work–life balance and to promote more equal sharing of childcare responsibilities. |
