The “Active citizen for people and planet!” consortium will focus on engaging citizens in discussions and action related to our climate and environment; proposing solutions to decision makers. It will work to build awareness and civic debate ahead of the 2024 European Parliament elections and will also contribute to countering disinformation and other interference in the democratic debate, empowering citizens to make informed decisions. It brings together a diverse consortium of 7 organisations: 4 affiliates Oxfam (Novib, Ibis, Belgium and Intermon), WECF (women engage for common future), Maldita.es, and Atlas of the future. We will look for active participation of the public in general, European citizen and citizen of the world. Focusing on young people with a special emphasis to climate and feminist activists. The project aims to generate the active participation of more than 2000 citizens from at least 7 countries across Europe organising generating inter-sectorial, intergenerational debates and activities in more than 15 events across Europe; Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Ireland, and countries in Central and South-East Europe like Romania. Croatia and Bulgaria, between January 2023 and June 2024. In view of the European Parliament elections of 2024, the “Active citizen for people and planet!” project will raise awareness, encourage civic and democratic participation, among European citizens (especially young people, future voters) about the climate and environemental crisis, its impacts in Europe and in the world in a vision of Feminsit Climate Justice, Eco feminist and Gender justice. We will analyze the political proposals related to the environment and green issues from the different parties, but also analyze the actions of the power in place, demanding accountability to parliamentarians for their commitments; and, also raise awareness among citizens though cultural events: courageous conversations, festivals, online debate
