Description

This project consists of additional financing to the development of a pilot renewable hydrogen facility in Uzbekistan, aiming to decarbonize fertilizer production and power generation in the region. The facility includes a 20 MW electrolyzer and a 52 MW greenfield wind power plant to produce renewable hydrogen. The initiative is being developed by ACWA Power UKS Green H2, a special-purpose company jointly owned by ACWA Power, an international developer of power and water plants, and Uzkimyosanoat (UKS), a state-owned chemical enterprise holding company in Uzbekistan. The project’s financing includes a $65 million package provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). This includes a $55 million senior loan and $10 million in concessional financing from Canada under the Special Fund for the High Impact Partnership on Climate Action (HIPCA).
