Core problem Jordan is one of the most water-poor countries in the world and is repeatedly exposed to droughts. The agricultural irrigation system is not efficient enough to ensure agricultural water supplies. Module objective The aim of the FC module is to increase the country's water efficiency and reduce the vulnerability of the agriculturally active population in the Jordan Valley to the effects of climate change. This is to be achieved through a more reliable and better water supply. It reduces the impact of droughts and heat waves on the income and employment of the target group. Key outputs Rehabilitation of the 30 to 40 year old irrigation network in the project area. Target group The direct target group is the agriculturally active population in the project area. Contribution to the national implementation of Agenda 2030 The module contributes to Goal 13 (take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts) and Goal 6 (ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
