Description
Description | Antisemitic hatred still remains widespread in Europe. The project aims to counter modern antisemitism in the V4 countries by 1) Enabling decision-makers and other stakeholders in the region to more effectively counter antisemitism through policy options based on a more comprehensive understanding of modern antisemitism 2) Strengthening the capacity of educational institutions to build up the resilience of students against antisemitism through evidence-based educational initiatives To achieve these objectives the project combines the strengths of focus group and quantitative survey research to gain a deeper understanding of antisemitism in the region. This will serve as a basis for policy formulation and inform the development of pilot education initiatives. In addition, a web database of all education initiatives addressing antisemitism in Hungary will be created as a searchable resource for educators, civil society actors and other stakeholders. The education project will be piloted in Hungary before a set of guidelines are developed for designing and implementing similar projects in the region. We expect that the project will 1) Increase knowledge and awareness of different types of antisemitism in the V4 region, their roots and interactions; 2) Increase interaction between social scientists focusing on antisemitism and policy makers in V4 countries leading to greater integration of evidence and policy; 3) Improve access to information on educational initiatives tackling antisemitism in Hungary; and 4)Strengthen integration of knowledge gained through research into education projects and other similar civil society interventions leading to more effective initiatives to tackle antisemitism. The project will support the needs of various target groups who are the key actors in the fight against antisemitism in V4 countries, including policy makers, education experts, and other civil society actors, Jewish communities. Project will also benefit the academia. |
