Adif expects to hire around 4,000 people in the coming three years as part of the biggest recruitment effort in the company’s history. It also means that around half of the Spanish infrastructure manager’s workforce will be replaced. Adif will see a significant outflow of personnel of retirement age in the coming years. For that reason it embarked on a five-year, 6,000-people recruitment campaign in 2021. This year, the company aims to absorb 1,316 new professionals. More than three quarters of those will end up in operational jobs. Adif president Ma Luisa Domínguez sees a challenging balancing act ahead, as the company aims to retain and transfer the knowledge of the outgoing generation to the incoming working force, while at the same time utilising the skill set of the younger generation. To that end, Adif will increase the number of available training hours by one third this year.
