The IIC’s loan to ADMSAO will be used to fund part of the company’s annual working capital needs, financing the credit it extends to agricultural producers who will supply soybeans and sunflower seeds to ADMSAO.ADMSAO (www.admsao.com) is one of the leading companies in the oilseed industry in Bolivia. It is also the leader in nontraditional exports in Bolivia, winning the excellence in exports prize (Premio de la Excelencia Exportadora) several years in a row.Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM, www.adm.com), a company based in Decatur, Illinois, USA, is a significant source of financing and technical assistance for farmers in the Santa Cruz department, in addition to being an important buyer of the country’s soybean and sunflower products.The IIC loan will enable the company to provide this financing to its suppliers (oilseed crop farmers) with better conditions (term and cost). Complementary to this loan, the IIC will provide direct technical assistance that will benefit a group of agricultural producers (suppliers of grains to ADMSAO) and consist of workshops for farmers on: (i) the current environmental legal framework; (ii) farming techniques that improve farm productivity and profitability; and (iii) better environmental practices on their farms.
