Advanced materials can be applied in all Industrial sectors and human activities and nearly in all developing and developed countries as well as international organisations e.g. In the UN, there are teams and agencies monitoring the National and International situation and developments in the area of new materials and determine development strategies in this crucial technological sector of the Economy. This proposal cover the whole spectrum of Advanced Materials Technology and, at the same time, it emphasises specific applications concerning the design of original systems of use and exploitation of renewable forms of energy. The objectives of the project are: development of cross-border cooperation between the Region of central Macedonia and Bulgaria in the knowledge field of Advanced Materials Processes and Technology. The integration and further development of cutting edge technologies relating to the aforementioned scientific domain, in cross-border regions of the European Union, in particular, Bulgaria. The involvement of the High Technology Institute of Serres in the field of technology transfer in the wider cross-border region on the subject matter of advanced materials technology and design of systems of exploitation of renewable sources of energy. The aim of this project is to develop cross-border cooperation in the crucial knowledge area of materials technology and the anticipated results are expected to be significant in terms of the application of new technologies by making an essential contribution to the industrial and economic development of the cross-border actors involved. The project has been designed as a joint and integrated action together with the Metal and Mineral Sciences Workshop of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki so that by the combined contribution of the two bodies and their respective science working groups, which have a demonstrated experience in the subject matter of advanced materials processes and technology, optimum results can be ensured.
