Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) Programme

The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is a key player in India's fifth-generation stealth fighter initiative. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is partnering with private sector firms to develop this aircraft. A shortlist of potential private sector partners is expected by September 30, 2025. The project includes establishing production facilities, developing prototypes, and supporting testing and certification processes. The first prototype is scheduled to fly in 2029, with full development by 2034 and series production starting in 2035. The fighter will feature advanced avionics, super-cruise capability, and stealth features, initially using F-414 engines from the US and later indigenous engines developed with Safran and GTRE.
