Description

Description

This project uses a science driven approach to understand road blocks and risks to the commercialization of PSC technologies related to stability, manufacturability and efficiency. Specifically, the current emphasis for the efforts is a focus on an integrated understanding impacts across these key issues. Linking process and device architecture to studies of basic mechanisms that impact stability and metastability along with the development of rapid device stability testing approaches to accelerate improved device designs and processes will be a focus of these activities. The tight coupling of activities across stability, manufacturability and efficiency consideration related to material composition and process link work on stability directly to efforts to understand performance (efficiency and stability). Thus, work on both single junction and all-perovskite tandems, as well as considerations for their production will directly consider aspect of materials formation, heterogeneity, processing and integration (manufacturing) that cause or mitigate degradation mechanism for high performance PSC tandems and single junctions. Work is structured to be device centric but with materials driven emphasis to address key questions across these three axes efficiency, stability and manufacturability that impact the ability of PSCs and all-perovskite PSC tandems to address 2020 and 2030 DOE objectives.
