Description | Objectives • To investigate level of participation of persons with disabilities (PwD) as victims in criminal justice proceedings • To research gaps, promising practices, and accommodations guaranteeing PwD full access to rights from the Victims’ Directive (VD) • To develop recommendations for improved policies and practices underpinning PwD victims’ access to these rights • To advocate for the adoption of policies and practices related to PwD victims’ access to rights • To create tools and information that facilitate PwD victims’ access to rights • To disseminate the information on the action to final beneficiaries, and all relevant audiences in HR, SI and EU. Activities • Research on the prevalence of PwD victims of crime • Research of experiences of PwD victims with access to rights under VD • Initial conference • Stakeholder consultations • Development of information / training materials • Advocacy and dissemination plans • Final conference Type and number of persons benefiting from the project Future PwD victims of crime, for information available to them; improved policies, practices; stakeholders better equipped; broader awareness of their rights. Public bodies, victim support institutions, PwD associations, and others will benefit from capacity building. Policy community in HR, SI and EU interested in better implementation of the VD. Expected results Improved understanding of participation of PwDs as victims in criminal justice system, their utilization of rights under the VD, and factors affecting access to rights. Increased capacity of criminal justice, victims’ rights, and PwD rights/support stakeholders to address issues related to rights of PwD victims Tools supporting PwD victims’ rights in place Type and number of deliverables Analytical activities: 2 research reports; 2 sets of recommendations; Training activities: 4 training modules; Mutual learning: 1 conference; Awareness raising, information and dissemination: 1 conference, 20 advocacy meetings, 50 USBs. |
