Description

Description

The overarching objective of T&E’s work is to deliver a zero-emission transport and energy system that is affordable, circular and has minimal impacts on our health and environment. Our key objectives in 2024-2026 are (more detailed in the FPA): 1) To fully electrify all road vehicles ASAP. 2) To encourage aviation and shipping to shift to 100% green fuels by 2050. 3) To tackle transport and resource demand by focusing on key structural drivers. Our first overarching objective is to make the ambitious Green Deal laws reality all across Europe. The quality and speed of Green Deal implementation in the next two years will determine whether the EU hits its 2030 climate targets. It will also set the stage for the revisions of regulations such as the car CO2 law, emissions trading or fuel mandates, happening from 2025 onwards. Our second overarching objective is to deepen the green transition by seizing on opportunities created by the Strategic Agenda and political guidelines of the new Commission. 2025 will be a key year, as the overall Commission work plan for the next mandate will be developed and new Commissioners will start working. Their first months in office will be key to set the tone for the years to come. The EU will also develop a ‘Clean Industrial Deal’, ‘Circularity Act’ and -90% climate strategy for 2040. This shifts the focus to greener supply chains, increased resource efficiency and lead markets for clean products such as green steel in automotive. Through our rigorous research, strategic advocacy, dynamic coalition building, and impactful communication, our organisation is uniquely positioned to drive meaningful change and contribute significantly to the EU’s environmental and climate objectives, ensuring a sustainable and resilient future for all. Our set up with 60 member groups supported by local and national T&E offices makes T&E uniquely positioned to engage with all relevant EU stakeholders.
