Description

Fenix was a 530 MW natural gas-fired IPP set to be located in chilca, just south of Lima. The project was developed and sponsored by the US based developer AEI, which had an 87.5% stake in the project. According to IJonline, the project reached finacial close in March of 2012. Details released on the deal included a USD 350 million loan split equally between Export Development Canada, HSBC and Bancolombia. Total project cost was 904 million, with 554 million of equity investment from the sponsors. Confirmation of the transaction with limited other information was found on the export development canada website. In December 2015, a consortium led by the Chilean company Colbun S.A. aquired full ownership of Fenix Power Peru. The project company's ownership structure was established as Colbun (51%), the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (36%), and the Peruvian investment fund Sigma (13%).
