Aeolus - Ngong Wind Project

Aeolus Power Ltd., a local Kenyan project devloper, applied to build, own and operate a 160 MW wind farm to be located in the aeolus Hills, Kenya. The first phase of the project was 60.8 MW. GE had been selected as the equipment supplier, and was contracted for 38, 1.6 MW turbines. As of December 2012, the PPA for the project had been signed with Kenya Power, the details of which were not released. The project was rapidly approaching financial close; Standard Bank was selected as lead arranger and JP Morgan to handle registration under the CDM mechanism. Comissioning for the first 60.8 MW phase was expected by the end of 2013.Total project cost was estimated at 16 billion Kenyan shillings (USD 171 million).
