AES 2022 – Statistical infrastructure under IESS

This project focuses on two main goals: the development of a multi-mode survey questionnaire for the AES survey 2022, and the training for interviewers. Both goals meet the objectives formulated in the grant. The first part of the proposal focuses on the development of a multi-mode survey for the AES survey. Statistics Belgium envisages the fieldwork for the AES to consist from two survey modes: a Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), followed by a Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) by a subdivision of the non-respondents from the CAWI sample. This combination of survey modes is new for the AES_BE survey. This development entails 1) the development of a survey questionnaire usable in a CAWI as well as a CAPI environment, 2) the programming of such a survey tool, 3) the testing of the tool. The second part of the proposal is related to the training of interviewers. The Belgian AES was never before conducted with interviewers. The training manual has to be developed in accordance with the manuals from Eurostat, and translated in the national languages, the training documents have to be developed and approximately 150 interviewers need to follow the training. The CAWI fieldwork will be starting in September 2022 (M15). The CAPI fieldwork is planned to start in December 2022 (M18).
