Description | The development objective of the Displaced Persons and Border Communities Project for Africa is to improve access to livelihoods and socio-economic infrastructure for displaced people and host communities in the targeted areas of the recipient’s territory. This project has four components. 1) The first component, Socio-Economic Investments, includes sub-projects for connective infrastructures and socio-economic investments, as well as support to district and provinces to implement and monitor the subgrants. It has two subcomponents as follows: (i) the first subcomponent, Connective infrastructure sub-projects, will focus is on larger infrastructure designed to connect the resettlement areas with the surrounding wards and districts. (ii) the second subcomponent, Socio-Economic Investment Sub-Projects, sub-grants will be provided at three levels, namely, district, sub-grants. 3) The third component, Social Cohesion and Conflict Prevention, will include: (a) Sensitization sessions on coexistence and conflict mitigation, during participatory discussions at community, ward, and district levels; and (b) support to community integration activities, including both Zambians and former refugees. 4) The fourth component, Project Management, will cover the cost for project management, implementation and supervision of project activities, administration of procurement and financial management, monitoring and evaluation, and safeguards compliance monitoring. |
