Description
Description | The aim of the AfricaGrow Fund is to support at least 150 innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in reform-oriented African countries by 2030 through local African fund managers in order to promote sustainable economic and social development there. The investments are intended to create more than 25,000 new jobs by 2030 or to maintain existing ones in the long term. When designing the fund, great importance was attached to ensuring that the investment funds financed by AfricaGrow pursue clear sustainability goals. Regular and careful monitoring is intended to ensure that the investments have measurable positive social and economic impacts. These include, for example, securing income and creating decent jobs. The fund volume is realized through a cooperation between public (BMZ and DEG) and private partners (Allianz companies). The federal government is providing an additional budget for accompanying support measures. AfricaGrow is a central instrument of the Compact with Africa (CwA) initiative launched in 2017 under the German G20 presidency. |
