The AEB is developed by the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO) in partnership with Afreximbank and headquartered in Nigeria. It will operate under a 'Mutual Assured Development' framework emphasizing commercial viability, sovereign benefits, and local content requirements. The bank aims to address financing gaps in projects like Angola's Lobito Refinery, which requires $4.8 billion to complete by its planned 2027 start. |
