Description
Description | AfricInvest Financial Sector Fund Limited LLC (AFS) is a regional microfinance fund for Africa that improves access to financial services for micro, small and medium-sized companies and individuals through equity investments in financial institutions. The project is part of the further development of the Microfinance Initiative for Sub-Saharan Africa (MIFSSA II). In addition to microfinance institutions, the fund also supports MSME leasing companies, (micro) insurance companies, MSME-oriented banks and other financial institutions. As an active investor, the fund manager pursues the downscaling approach for the portfolio companies in order to be able to reach even the smallest customers. This approach fully takes into account the needs of dynamic MSMEs and poorer private customers. KfW has been involved in the AFS with its own funds since 2013 on behalf of the BMZ. In addition to KfW, the main investors are FMO, Proparco, BIO, DOTF, Desjardins and the Lundin Foundation. |
