Description

The Government of Nigeria awarded to Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG) a BOT contract for the Agbara/ Ota Natural gas pipeline in January 2003. The pipeline project aims at transmitting and distributing natural gas to Agbara Ota industrial estate located South Western Nigeria near Lagos. The project was the first one to promote industrial use of natural gas in the country. The BOT contract for Agbara/ Ota Natural gas pipeline was signed between Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG), a fully owned subsidiary of the Shell Petroleum Development Company, and Nigerian Gas company, a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). In its initial phase, the US$ 34 million pipeline was planned with a supply capacity of 45 million standard cubic feet of gas and a customer base of 45 companies in Agbara Ota industrial area. The pipeline capacity could be expanded up to 121 million standard cubic feet.
