Aggregate Industries Biogenic Asphalt Project in the UK

ongoing

Aggregate Industries has launched the UK's first commercially available biogenic asphalt, SuperLow-Carbon, in partnership with Shell Bitumen. This innovative product aims to decarbonize the construction industry by utilizing improved production processes and alternative energy sources to lower its embodied carbon footprint. SuperLow-Carbon includes a biogenic material that locks CO² within the asphalt, creating a 'carbon sink' that absorbs and stores more carbon from the atmosphere than it releases. The asphalt is manufactured at lower temperatures, reducing energy consumption and improving working conditions on-site.
