Description | In May 2006, Aggreko plc signed a two year rental contract with Yemen’s state-owned Public Electricity Corporation for 50 MW of generation capacity. Aggreko’s existing generators were to be shipped to Yemen, installed in the town of Al Hudaydah and connected to Yemen’s national grid by the end of May 2006. Aggreko plc won a competitive public tender organized by the Yemen’s Ministry of Electricity because of its commitment to install its generators within the government’s time frame. According to Yemen’s Minister of Electricity, the power was to be used to support economic reforms which required the support of strong infrastructure. Still operational in 2011. |
