Description | At the end of 2006, the government of Angola awarded a contract to Aggreko Plc. for installation and operation of 30 MW a diesel-fired power plant in Cabinda. The contract period was for 2 years. The project became operational in January 2007. Under the agreement, Aggreko supplied electricity to Electricidade de Luanda (EDEL), the distribution grid in the Angolan capital.The project was part of the government's plan to meet an increase demand for electricity in Angola. As of June 2011, the power plant was still operational. (Aggreko was having trouble getting the Empresa Nacional d'Angola, ENA, to pay for the lease of several generators, concerning several months of an annual contract worth several tens of millions of dollars.) |
