Description
Description | The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) has signed a $37 million contract with Aggreko plc to supply 100MW of power for the duration of 12 months. The rental power agreement consists of 2 locations of 50MW each, located in Ubungo and Tegeta in Tanzania. Aggreko is a privately owned company based in the United Kingdom, and the leading provider of temporary power solutions. With draughts treatening the electricity supply of Tanzania, where more than two-thirds of all electricity is generated by hydro-plants, the government needed a temporary boost to stabilise supply and reduce load-shedding. The contract was awarded through a competitive bidding process. N.B. Aggreko had succesfully been operating a smaller temporary power station at Ubungo already from 2006 to 2008. Finance information should be improved. |
