Description
Description | Aghanloo, outside Limavady, has undergone a sustainable upgrade to its local wastewater treatment works with a £4 million investment by NI Water. The upgrade features an innovative treatment process called Phragmafiltre®, which uses a series of reed beds to treat wastewater naturally with minimal energy. The facility includes over 10,000 reeds planted across 3,000 square meters, creating a natural environment with six reed beds covering an area equivalent to 16 tennis courts. The project aims to provide a low carbon, low energy wastewater treatment solution that integrates into the landscape and serves the area sustainably for the next 20 years. |
