Aghanloo Wastewater Treatment Works Upgrade

The project involves an eco-friendly upgrade to the Aghanloo Wastewater Treatment Works using an innovative reedbed wastewater treatment process called Phragmafiltre®. This nature-based system uses a series of reed beds to treat wastewater naturally with minimal energy, reducing mechanical components and maintenance costs. The facility includes over 10,000 reeds planted across 3,000 square meters, with six reed beds covering an area equivalent to 16 tennis courts. The upgrade aims to provide a low carbon, low energy treatment works that integrates into the landscape and serves the area sustainably for 20 years, while enhancing local wildlife habitats and protecting waterways.
