The objective of this application is to complete the financing of the two-episode drama mini-series AGNES, succeed in the production and post-production stages and be able to deliver the project to the broadcasters. The number of people involved in the production/post-production of this audiovisual project is around eighty and include the creative team, the production team, the cast, all technical crew, drivers etc. The production actions include: the production, post-production, completion of the deliveries and the communication and dissemination of the project. Axman Production (Czech Republic) is the main production company of the mini-series. The project is built-up as a co-production with sister company Film Kolektiv (Czech Republic) and an international co-production with PubRes (Slovakia), 42film (Germany) and MD4 (Poland). The four co-producers are part of the consortium of the MEDIA-Creative Europe TV and Online Content application. At this moment, Czech TV, Slovak TV and NDR/ARTE are the confirmed co-producer broadcasters. AGNES is a mini-series set in Bohemia in the 13th century, written by Tereza Brdeckova (Czech Republic) and directed and co-written by Dagmar Knöpfel (Germany). The idea of the mini-series was born as a reflection on the real historical person of Saint Agnes of Bohemia. She was born a princess, but she chose to become a nun. She was destined for power, but she gave it all up for the love of the poor and ill. She was a woman in a man’s world, but she dared to challenge the 13th-century status quo. AGNES is a biographical period drama mini-series that tells the extraordinary story of the daughter of a king who defied her fate and followed her faith. From the royal court to the convent, she faced enemies and allies, trials and triumphs, in her quest to serve God and humanity. AGNES is an inspiring series about courage, justice, equality, and being true to oneself: the tale of an icon for the world we live in.
