Description
Description | Agni-IV is an indigenously built next-generation nuclear-capable missile with a range of 4,000 km. It features high-performance onboard distributed avionics architecture, including an end-to-end digital control system, modern compact avionics for high reliability, and advanced guidance systems such as Ring Laser Gyros based high accuracy INS and Micro Navigation System. The missile is lighter than most and has solid propulsion with a payload capable of withstanding temperatures above 3,000 degrees Celsius. The project was led by Dr. Tessy Thomas, marking the first woman-led missile project in India. The missile underwent a series of successful test launches from 2011 to 2018, confirming its operational reliability and readiness for induction into the Strategic Forces Command. |
