Description | The loan would be used to help finance a three-year lending program to increase the production of agricultural crops and livestock in all regions of Peru. The program would include medium and long-term loans to agricultural producers for land improvement, farm water supplies, tree and plantation crops, agricultural machinery and livestock; and to private enterprises for processing and storage facilities. As in the past, Banco loans would be authorized only to credit-worthy borrowers for technically and financially justified projects, and would require appropriate contributions by the borrowers. The repayment terms of Banco's loans would be up to six years for medium-term credits, and up to 20 years for long-term operations. In addition to the lending program for which the proposed loan is requested, Banco will carry out its normal program of short-term agricultural credit, as well as a certain number of commercial and promotional activities on behalf of the Peruvian Government. |
