Description
Description | The Agua Bonita Cogeneration project involves the expansion of a cogeneration plant fuelled with sugar cane bagasse to 17 MW in the Taruma, state of Sao Paulo. The project cost was estimated at US$11.7 (30.7 million real). In April 2005, Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimiento Economico e Social (BNDES) approved a US$7.85 million (20.6 million real) to Destilaria Agua Bonita, the rest would be financed by the company through their own resources. Agua Bonita was granted a 20 year PPA under the terms of the Financial Support Program for Investments in Alternative Sources of Electric Energy (PROINFA). PROINFA was a government sponsored renewable energy program in which wind, biomass, and small hydro projects selected for development were guaranteed power sales contracts with federal utility Eletrobras at pre-specified prices and receive access to BNDES financing. |
