In November 2015, Aguas de Camboriu S.A., a subsidiary of the Brazilian Aegea Saneamento e Participacoes (Grupo Equipav), was awarded the 35-year concession contract to provide water distribution and sewerage collection services to the city of Camboriu, State of Santa Catarina. The municipality's population was estimated at 74.4 thousand. The project company committed to reach 98% of the city's population with water distribution until 2017 (100% by the end of the concession contract). With regards to sewerage collection services, the project company agreed only to maintain and operate the infrastructure to be provided by the municipality. The bidding criteria was the lowest tariff, but no additional information was available on the winning bid and on the name of the other companies that took part in the bidding contest. The total investment was estimated at US$ 48 million (BRL 160 million) over the concession period.
