In February 2015, Grupo Aguas do Brasil, a partnership of the Brazilian companies Developer S.A. – Grupo Carioca Engenharia, Queiroz Galvao Saneamento, Aquapar Participacoes and Construtora Cowan, was awarded the 35-year concession contract to expand, rehabilitate and operate the water and sewerage facilities of Para de Minas, located at the state of Minas Gerais. The contract was awarded by the municipality, and the investments were expected to benefit around 90,306 people. Only three companies took part in the bidding process: Grupo Aguas do Brasil, Consorcio Para de Minas Ambiental and Andrade Gutierrez Concessoes. The bidding criteria was a combination of technical and financial parameters. The contract was signed in March 2015, and the private sponsor took over the operations of the water and sewerage services in April 2015. The special purpose company Aguas de Para de Minas was set to lead the project. The total investment in the project was estimated at US$ 77.3 million (BRL 230 million).
