Description | The project entails the construction of a 68 MW solar plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Sponsor of the project is the Chinese-Canadian PV module maker Canadian Solar Inc. Financing of the project is secured by a $ 45 million loan provided by Natixis. The project was awarded to the sponsor under Mexico’s first long-term energy auction, which was held by the Mexican government in 2016. The generated electricity will be sold to the Federal Electricity Commission under a 15-year PPA for energy and capacity, and a 20 year agreement for Clean Energy Certificates. The plant started commercial operation in January 2019. Financial close took place on August 7, 2018.
