AI Companion (AI-COMP): Scaling AI Media Literacy for Societal Resilience Our project, AI Companion (AI-COMP), aligns with all four core call objectives, leveraging the expertise of Tactical Tech, Save the Children, and Savoir Devenir—three trusted organizations in EU media literacy. As experienced practitioners and capacity builders, we ensure AI-related media literacy (ML) resources are widely accessible. Objectives & Approach: We aim to strengthen AI media literacy by: - Equipping educators (formal and informal) with resources to help youth navigate AI. - Promoting intergenerational, non-hierarchical learning, fostering dialogue between educators and youth. - Expanding tested ML resources into scalable models for AI competency-building. Our initiative spans France, Italy, and 10 additional countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain). Resources will be available in over 10 languages, including English, French, and Italian. Key AI Topics We focus on three interconnected themes: - Data – Understanding AI's reliance on data. - Algorithms – Exploring recommendation systems and AI-driven influence. - Generative AI – Examining text and image generators, chatbots, deepfakes, and synthetic media. Beyond AI technologies, we address their societal impacts, including disinformation, cognitive bias, online polarization, and radicalization. AI-COMP provides urgently needed ML tools to navigate these challenges, ensuring AI literacy is integrated into broader educational frameworks.
