Description | Celebrity investor Kevin O'Leary plans to build a 7.5-gigawatt AI data centre in rural Box Elder County, Utah, similar to his proposed $70-billion AI data centre campus in northern Alberta. The project would cover between 10,000 and 13,000 acres and be part of a larger 40,000-acre development including a natural gas power plant capable of producing up to nine gigawatts. The project aims to boost the local economy with close to 2,000 permanent jobs and additional tax revenue, but faces opposition due to environmental concerns, especially regarding the Great Salt Lake ecosystem. |
