AI-ready education: Mapping and innovating Generative AI in teaching and learning

GenAI-EduMap aims to foster the organisational readiness and system-level capacity of educational institutions to adopt Generative AI (GenAI) in an inclusive, effective, pedagogically underpinned and ethically grounded manner. In line with EU-level and global guidance, policies and frameworks, the project supports a structured, evidence-based transition from fragmented experimentation to systemic adoption of GenAI in teaching, learning, and assessment. To this end, the project will map and analyse current uses of GenAI in teaching, learning, and assessment across four EU countries, identifying good practices, challenges, and enabling conditions to inform national and EU-level policy and innovation. It will co-design, test and evaluate inclusive, curriculum-aligned GenAI tools, use cases and pedagogical workflows with educators and learners, ensuring ethical, effective and context-sensitive implementation. To strengthen educator capacity, the project will deliver targeted AI literacy training and hands-on resources that promote critical understanding and responsible classroom integration. These outcomes will feed into implementation-ready guidelines and evidence-based policy recommendations developed with public education authorities to ensure transferability, mainstreaming and alignment with EU and national frameworks. GenAI-EduMap builds on the experience and outcomes of the AI4EDU Erasmus+ Forward-Looking project and is implemented by a complementary consortium of 10 partners across four EU Member States, Cyprus, Greece, Ireland and Sweden. It includes public education and training authorities from three EU countries, research and academic institutions, teacher training providers, and schools, ensuring technical excellence, contextual relevance, and long-term policy impact.
