AIDE HUMANITAIRE D'URGENCE VICT. INONDAT

The present operation is designed following the damage caused by the excessive rains that hit the regions of Mohammedia, Settat and Berrechid during the month of November 2002. The record of these floods that hit Morocco is heavy both materially and humanly. Despite the surprise effect inherent in natural disasters, the Government, with the support of the national and international community, has made great efforts to assist the affected populations. The present intervention is therefore initiated to support the Government in its assistance to the populations affected by the phenomenon. In line with the needs of the affected populations as identified in the field through a participatory approach, the assistance of the African Development Bank mainly consists of financing: (i) foodstuffs (flour, sugar, oil, tea, etc.), (ii) clothing (clothing and blankets), essential medicines (anti-diarrhea, acute respiratory infections and dietary supplements), equipment and agricultural inputs, livestock and civil protection equipment (generators, water tanks, motor pumps).
