Air-e Energy Distribution Improvement

This project involves the modernization and improvement works on the Air-e (the sponsor) energy distribution network in Atlántico, La Guajira and Magdalena departments, Colombia. This initiative involves improving the efficiency of the electrical network, guaranteeing the quality and sustainability of the service in 39 municipalities of the aforementioned departments. Air-e was selected by the government to take over the operation of the regional electricity network in 2020. The total project cost is $44.7m (COP $180,000m) and it is provided with a long-term guaranteed, preferred corporate credit from the Inter-American Development Bank. The project contributes to the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): No Poverty (SDG 7), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9).
