Description
Description | The purpose of the Airpol network is to enhance the overall security in the European airports & civil aviation domain. This is done by optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of airport and aviation related law enforcement and border guard issues in the EU and in that way contributing to a more secure European Union. The main mission is to enhance the co-operation between, and raise the general level of competence in specified areas, for police and border guard units at EU airports. The network aims at contributing to a more harmonized approach of law enforcement in this domain and the networks scope encompasses the three aviation related themes: Airport Policing, Aviation Security and Air Border Security. The past session (Airpol IV) gathered 26 MS actively taking part in the Airpol work together with several countries and organizations outside the EU. The working methodology for the further development of Airpol is to continue working with expert groups on relevant topics e.g. Securing the Airport Community working group which takes a holistic approach on the airport community, not only the airport or parts of it. The activities in this application focuses on continuing working to establish or further develop best practise and the concept on how to secure the Airport Community. This will be done in co-operation with actors both within Europe, Frontex, Europol and Airport Council International (ACI), as well as outside as such as FBI (US), TSA (US), airport security experts from Israel and other countries. The proposal consists of: - The seven Airpol expert working groups continuing working and widening the scope for some of them - Training sessions (train-the-trainer concept). - Conferences/workshops and/or with exercises on relevant topics if applicable together with other actors. - Exercise/training based on the video and the manual dealing with a terrorist attack. - Capacity building activities for some airports outside EU with traffic on EU airports. |
