AirTrain Newark Replacement PPP project

The project includes the replacement of the existing AirTrain system with the new AirTrain in Newark Airport. The existing system is reaching its life expectancy and cannot accommodate the current passenger demand and future needs of the airport. The new AirTrain Newark will provide for a completely new Right-of-Way (ROW) in a revised alignment to meet the changing Airport layout. The project will be a 2.5-mile elevated guideway train system and will be designed to maximize customer convenience with seamless connections to other forms of transportation and provide modern tools and amenities in AirTrain stations and in vehicles. The expected operation rate is 2,000-3,500 passengers per hour per direction. In addition to the guideway, the following infrastructure will be constructed or provided: 3 stations Maintenance Control Facility Grade-separated pedestrian connections from stations to terminals 15-20 vehicles Power distribution system including substations Automated train control system  Supervisory control and data acquisition systems
