Description | The AKK gas pipeline is a 614-kilometer infrastructure project designed to transport 2.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from the gas-rich South to the northern industrial corridor of Nigeria. It aims to revitalize northern industries, alleviate power shortages, and provide a cleaner alternative to diesel and fuel oil. The project includes powering three new thermal plants in Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano with a combined capacity of 3,600 MW. The pipeline is over 90% complete and is set to partially activate with gas deliveries to Abuja starting in July 2026. |
