Description
Description | The AKK gas pipeline is a 614-kilometre pipeline designed to deliver more than 2.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. It is a core part of Nigeria's strategy to shift its energy mix towards gas, supply power plants and industries in the northern region, and reduce reliance on diesel and fuel oil. The project began construction in 2020 and has faced delays due to funding pressures and engineering challenges, including the technically demanding crossing of the River Niger using horizontal directional drilling. The pipeline is more than 90% complete and is expected to start delivering gas to Abuja by July 2026. |
