Description
Description | Akenerji was planning the development of the 27 MW Himmetli hydropower plant, run-of-river, Goksu river, Adana province, Southeast Turkey. Annual production was estimated at 106 GWh. Akenerji was partly owned by Czech state-controlled CEZ (37.5%) and Turkish Akkok Group (37.5%), 25% of its shares were publicly traded in the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Commissioning was expected for late-2012. The developer received a 49 year production license for the project in May 2007. The Gokkaya plant was one of five hydro power projects Akenerji was developing in the Goksu river. The Turkish government opened up for tender concessions for 52 run-of river hydropower plants, between December 2009 February 2010. During the tenders, 615 bids were made and the deals were finalized in May/June 2010. Esimated costs were $338 million for the five projects. IFC approved in June 2010 credit of up to $75 million towards the five projects, including: the 30 MW Feke I, the 70 MW Feke II, the 27 MW Himmetli, the 30 MW Gokkaya and the 3 MW Saimbeyli plants. The loan consisted of a $65 million A loan and a $10 million C loan, as well as future support for any power distribution projects developed by Akenerji. On a MW pro-rata basis, this implies a $57.0 million investment for the Himmetli plant, including $12.6 million IFC Loan. The project was recorded under IFC Project number 29359. |
