Description
Description | On August 20th, 2007 the Government of Mangistau, the south-west region of Kazakhstan, selected the ATM Airport Construction and Management (ATM Group) as the winner for the 28-year concession to build and operate a new passenger terminal and rehabilitate existing infrastructure at the region’s main airport – Aktau Airport. Over the past decade the airport had seen significant increase in passenger traffic which made the expansion necessary. ATM Group was formed by Turkish construction group Aksa and Kazakh’s Turkuaz group. Besides ATM, four local companies participated in the tender held by the regional government in August 2008. ATM Group bid offered the highest investment commitment and was selected as the finalist. The concession agreement was signed on December 3, 2007. The total cost of the project including construction of a new terminal was estimated to be US$31 million. In addition to building a new terminal ATM will rehabilitate the current run way and improve airport infrastructure to bring it to the international standards. The new terminal would have a service life of 28-30 years. The new terminal was open in 2009. |
